6x GRAMMY® Nominee Lakecia Benjamin Drops Holiday Single, “The Christmas Song”, featuring 2x GRAMMY® Nominee Christie Dashiell (Artwork Records)
Renowned alto saxophonist-composer Lakecia Benjamin, currently celebrating her sixth career GRAMMY® nomination, has released a new single on just in time for the holidays. Benjamin’s latest offering is a soulful and stirring take on “The Christmas Song”, featuring fellow GRAMMY® nominee Christie Dashiell. The first collaboration between these two jazz stars, “The Christmas Song” also features bassist Elias Bailey, pianist Oscar Perez, organist Miki Hayama, and is tastefully augmented by percussionist Bendji Allonce and soaring strings, arranged by Cremaine Booker.
“I’ve always loved “The Christmas Song”. I’m so glad to have Christie – who is truly an amazing singer – join me on one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs,” reflects Benjamin. “I hope this song brings listeners some joy and happiness during the season.”
“The Christmas Song” is Benjamin’s first release on Artwork Records. She will release a full length album with the label in the summer of 2026. Her single, “Noble Rise”, is currently nominated for Best Jazz Performance, while Dashiell is nominated alongside Terri Lyne Carrington for their collaborative album We Insist in the Best Jazz Vocal album category.
