On his 11th release as a frontman, trumpeter and composer Darren Barrett explores the innovations of electronic music. Mr. Steiner is a colorful tribute to EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument) and EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument) founder and pioneer Nyle Steiner. Barrett applies NuEVI, a new version of the EVI produced by Berglund Instruments, to the trumpet and his set of well-done originals for a fantastic product. The outstanding music is aided by the talents of the great Kenny Garrett and Noah Preminger on saxophone, Santiago Bosch on keyboards, Chad Selph on organ, Daniel Ashkenazy and Gonn Shani on bass, Mathéo Techer and Roni Kaspi on drums, Jeffrey Lockhart, Roy Ben Bashat and François Chanvallon on guitar and Judy Barrett on percussion. An impressive exploration of sound and creative landscapes.
