Ralph Peterson and the Messenger Legacy is back with a historic new recording: “Onward & Upward”. Due to the current situation, this incredible new release will be dropping this Fall on Onyx Productions Music Label LLC. Spearheaded by Peterson, “Onward & Upward” features an astounding lineup of former jazz messengers including Joanne Brackeen, Kevin Eubanks “Official Page”, Robin Eubanks, Essiet Essiet, Steve Davis,Craig Handy, Philip Harper,Brian Lynch, Lonnie Plaxico, Bill Pierce, Melisa Slocum,Reinaldo DeJesus, Jean Touissant, Peter Washington, Anthony Wonsey and, in the spirit of mentorship, rising pianist Zaccai Curtis. With the exception of one composition, all of the music featured on this momentous recording had never been performed by Art Blakey thus writing a new page in the Jazz Messenger canon.
