Vocalist Emma Frank has made the move to Montreal-based label Justin Time with her fourth album, Come Back, scheduled for a September 6th release. The record sees Frank deepening her musical relationship with pianist Aaron Parks who graced her previous outing, Ocean Av, last year. Rounding out the band is bassist Zack Lober and drummer Tommy Crane as well as producer and guitarist Franky Rousseau.
Come Back delves into themes of love, lust, self-doubt, commitment, and sadness through its seven original compositions in addition to its cover of Wilco’s “Either Way” and a vocal rendition of Park’s “Lilac”, re-baptized into the title track “Come Back”, from his latest album Aaron Parks Little Big.
In her trademark poise and erudition, Frank says of the project: “I hope that listening to this album makes people feel seen in all of their complexity and beauty. Life is tough. Music is soothing. In a sense, it’s that easy. I want this album to be a safe space for someone or one space that they can go to feel their feelings and enjoy being alive.”

In Frank’s own words: “I happened to be in Paris at the same time as Aaron and his now-wife, Maria, a few summers ago. Aaron had just finished recording his new album with Little Big and was playing us tracks from it. ‘Lilac’ was something he thought he’d like lyrics to, and I loved it so much and told him I’d try my best. Lilacs are my favorite flowers, and this song just felt like the perfect vehicle to express all the complex feelings around fleeting beautiful things.”
