Here’s a piano trio that is overflowing with style and lyricism. Pianist Nick Hetko, bassist RichSyracuse and drummer Jeff “Siege” Siegel all contribute writing skill to this album along with a couple of standards, and the album has a clean and fresh quality to it. Hetko’s touch is warm as he swings easy on the uptown “Sleeper” while bringing his two fists 8 to the bar on Oscar Peterson’s hot “Oscar’s Boogie.” Siegel and Syracuse go on a journey for the Chopinesque “Captain of A Sinking Ship” and the team is elegant on the ¾ “Free Fall.” The trio bops well on “Evie’s Theme” while Hetko creates sparkling stars on “I Fall In Love Too Easily.” Polished chrome on a vintage Chevy.
