Vocalist Vanessa Rubin makes her return to Mezzrow for a weekend with her quartet: John Cowherd (piano), Kenny Davis (bass), Carl Allen (drums). Doors at 7:00pm. $25 walk-in music charge for this show, one drink minimum. While not a release show for her forthcoming album The Dream Is You, Vanessa will perform a few selections from the record in the trio setting.

La Tanya Hall’s new album “Say Yes” [Sunnyside Records, 2019] is a tour de force, reimagining classic songs from the jazz and contemporary canon. Joined by Andy Milne on piano, John Hébert on bass, Clarence Penn on drums, Ms. Hall is a consummate storyteller.

During his vast career, pianist/composer Andy Milne has demonstrated boundless versatility, collaborating with artists spanning jazz, classical, pop, folk, and world music. “Unison”, his trio featuring bassist John Hebert & drummer Clarence Penn, skillfully explores the intersection of colorful melody, exotic texture and hypnotic groove. This spring they’ll record Milne’s debut on the ECM label.
